How does it taste?
Dark chocolate, dried apricots and a gentle caramel finish. The medium-light roast lets the beans’ natural sweetness shine — this coffee is superb on its own or with milk, and suits filter, French press and moka pot alike.
What makes it different?
The cherries are picked by hand by the family of grower Jaider Izquierdo, just once a year and only when perfectly ripe — from the first seed to the roast, entirely without chemicals. To the Arhuacos, everything is alive and deserves respect: every ant, the water, every stone and leaf. That is why each harvest opens with a traditional ritual.
The story in a nutshell
After the Spanish arrived, the Arhuacos had to abandon their homes and spent four centuries quietly surviving in the cold mountains of the Sierra Nevada. Today they are returning to the land of their ancestors — and this coffee is helping them do it. We are not middlemen: the growers’ families are our direct trading partners, and every pack sold contributes to buying their land back. Read the full story below ↓

Café Arhuacos Coffee Beans – Organic 100% Arabica from Colombia

When I take, I must also give.
We import our coffee beans directly from the indigenous communities of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta – from the sacred place of Nabusimake, which in the Iku language means “the place where the sun was born”. For centuries the Arhuacos were driven from their land. We want them to be able to return to it: in 2020, proceeds from our sales helped buy back 20 hectares of land in the Birwa area, where the community now grows its own coffee, avocados and bananas – without fear of being displaced again.
We have no wish to create a living museum. We want the Arhuaco tribe to look after its own land and future itself.
Ywawika — the Heart of the World
The Arhuacos call the mountains of the Sierra Nevada Ywawika — the Heart of the World. For hundreds of years they have lived in perfect harmony with nature, and their mission is to care for this heart. Every cup of Café Arhuacos helps them carry on.
Why our coffee matters
Certified organic
The beans are one hundred percent organic, harvested once a year with the greatest possible respect for nature – no chemicals, no artificial sprays.
Direct trade, no middlemen
We import our coffee straight from grower families in the Sierra Nevada, such as Jaider Izquierdo’s – no middlemen, no wholesale warehouses.
Coffee that gives land back
With every pack sold we contribute to buying back ancestral land in the Sierra Nevada. In 2020 the Arhuaco community regained 20 hectares in the Birwa area — and we’re not stopping there.
