Coffee as a Gift: A Treat That Smells Wonderful and Does Good

You know the feeling: a birthday or Christmas is coming up, or you simply want to say thank you — and once again you’re stuck on what to buy for someone who „doesn’t need anything“. Coffee as a gift is the answer that works almost every time: it’s personal, it gets used up (no dust-gathering ornament) and every morning it reminds them who gave it.

Why a coffee gift is a safe bet

  • It pleases most people. Around 8 in 10 adults drink coffee — and even someone who usually buys the „ordinary“ kind will appreciate being given something exceptional.
  • It’s a little luxury. Plenty of people won’t buy premium coffee for themselves — which is precisely what makes it such a great gift.
  • It won’t end up in a drawer. Unlike candles and mugs, a coffee gift gets drunk — and if it tastes good, it’ll have them coming back for more.

How to choose coffee that makes a great gift

1. Whole bean, not ground. Whole beans stay fresh for weeks and feel premium. The recipient can grind them to suit their own brewing method — filter, French press or moka pot.

2. Quality you can read off the label. Look for single-origin 100% arabica, organic (BIO) certification and details about the roastery. The more specific the origin (country, region, altitude), the more confident you can be that it isn’t an anonymous blend.

3. A story that elevates the gift. The best gifts come with a story to tell. Our coffee grows in the Colombian Sierra Nevada mountains, in a place called Nabusimake — „the place where the sun was born“. It’s harvested by hand by Arhuaco families we trade with directly, and with every pack sold we help them buy back their ancestors’ land. So you’re giving not just coffee, but a small good deed too — and that’s a lovely thing to share around the Christmas table.

Which size to choose?

  • 200 g — a small token or taster: for an advent parcel, or to thank a colleague.
  • 400 g — the classic „just right“ gift for a birthday or under the tree.
  • 1,000 g — for serious coffee lovers, the office or a corporate gift.

A tip for businesses: coffee with a story makes a wonderful corporate gift — more personal than branded wine, and with values a company can be proud to stand behind. For larger orders, get in touch and we’ll sort something out.

Not sure what coffee they drink?

Then give a sure thing: go for a versatile medium-light roast — it tastes good on its own, with milk or as an espresso. And if you’re really not sure, tuck a note into the gift with our guide to choosing coffee — so they can pick their own next time.

Whether the parcel ends up under the tree, on a wedding table or in the office — with coffee from the Arhuacos you’re giving a morning someone will look forward to. ☕
